Suitable fabric for a woman´s blouse

From all the samples that were available a smooth and lightweight fabric with a fancy print is chosen. The technical construction and the properties of the fabric will be discussed in this blog. As well as the type of blouse which is suitable for this fabric and the aftercare.

Technical construction

The fabric is made of 100% viscose yarn. Viscoce is a man-made natural polymer fibre and it is made of any raw material that contains cellulose. The cellulose is disolved in a liquid and is spun out of the filament that comes out of the solution. 

The yarn is constructed in a plain weave, which is showed in the picture. The pattern draft is also shown. If you compare the picture with the pattern draft, you see that one warp is woven over one weft, vice versa. 

The viscose filament is not twisted, also called a flat filament. The picture also shows the flat filament. If we have a closer look at the yarns, you see the weft is thicker than the warp.

The print of the fabric is composeted out of four colours, black, sand, blue and dark blue. Probably, the fabric is dye by using the rotary screen printing system with dye stuff of a watersolution. It's better to print with a watersolution, because it gives a smoother feel. Pigment printing would give the fabric a more rough touch. 

The weight of the fabric is 120 grams per square meter, which indicates a ligthweighted fabric. A loose woman's blouse in size 38 would weigh around ((1,4X1,2)X120=201,6)
201,6 gram.

Properties of the fabric

The fabric is suitable for a loose classy woman's blouse, which is worn in warm environments. 

 

Viscose is a smooth textile with a low volume of entrapped air. The thermal insulation is low, so that means that the fabric is "cold". It is useful in warm environments. 

The viscose fibres are fine and soft, this makes the fabric comfortable to wear and gives a classy/formal look.

Viscose is very useful for coloring the fabric in bright colors. This is very applicable for a woman’s blouse, whereas it is subject to trends, age and season more than men’s clothing. 

Viscose absorbs more liquid than cotton. For a woman´s blouse this is not as important as for sportswear.  

Viscose is stronger when it is dry. Wet viscose has only 40 until 70% strength of the dry version. Viscose is significantly less stronger than cotton. For a woman´s blouse the strength is not as important as for working clothes or jeans, but it is better to have a fabric that is stronger when it is wet when it comes to washing. 

Viscose has a low electrostatic charge, which is quit important for women in wintertime. If the electrostatic charge would be high, the blouse would stick to the body. 

Viscose has the intention to shrink, but this can be reduced by a special treatment with synthetic resins. It is not sure if this fabric has had a special treatment to reduce the shrinkage. Viscose wrinkles easy just like cotton, but viscose can also be ironed. 

Aftercare

This fabric can be washed at 40 degrees or by dry cleaning. It is not allowed to tumble dry it nor bleaching. It is possible to iron the fabric at the second level.
